Raw materials of plant origin, such as rice bran (Oryza sativa; RB), are promising alternatives to fishmeal in aquaculture feeds, offering a low-cost solution. However, due to antinutritional factors and reduced digestibility, direct use of RB is limited. Fermentation is an effective, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly technique that improves the nutritional quality of RB, enhancing nutrient availability and digestibility and reducing harmful compounds.

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of death worldwide. Patients with CAD exhibit increased levels of kynurenine (KYN) pathway (KP) metabolites, which are key products of tryptophan (TRP) catabolism and have been identified as predictive markers for cardiovascular events and atherosclerosis progression. However, the effects of exercise on KP metabolites and their influence on atherosclerosis and inflammation in these patients remain poorly understood.

The highly lipophilic nature and low aqueous solubility of cannabidiol (CBD) limit its oral bioavailability, resulting in poor intestinal absorption. To overcome these limitations, we proposed the production of a nanoemulsion with CBD to be included in the therapeutic treatment of autism spectrum disorder. The current study aimed to evaluate the effect of CBD-rich corn oil nanoemulsion treatment in male rats born to females exposed to valproic acid (VPA) during pregnancy on autistic-like behaviors and hippocampal histology.

Background: Anterior skull base meningiomas can cause significant symptoms such as mass effect and neuropsychological decline, necessitating surgical resection. The endoscopic extended transnasal approach has emerged as a minimally invasive alternative to craniotomy, offering a means to address these tumors despite challenges due to the proximity of critical neurovascular structures and the high risk of complications such as cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks. This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluate the safety and efficacy of extended transsphenoidal techniques in anterior skull base meningiomas.

Prevalence of Human Papilloma Virus in Coquimbo, Chile.

Background: Human papillomavirus (HPV) is the main pathogen responsible of cervical cancer. The characterization of HPV genotypes in preneoplastic lesions and cervical cancer could establishes the effectiveness of the vaccination plan in the Chilean population. The aim of this study was to determine the frequency of HPV in women in the Coquimbo region.
