Purpose: In this study, we analyse the possibility to omit pre-incision PTH measurement since we routinely measure it at the time of pre-surgery ambulatory admission.
Methods: A total of 435 patients were enrolled. All patients with pHPT included underwent pre-surgical PTH level assessment as part of the pre-admission preparation to surgery.

Objective: The impact of heavier weight of resected thyroid specimen on postoperative morbidity after total thyroidectomy for multinodular benign goiter remains unclear.
Methods: Data from the prospective StuDoQ|Thyroid registry of the German Society of General and Visceral Surgery were analyzed regarding the weight of the resected thyroid specimen and perioperative morbidity (vocal cord palsy, hemorrhage, surgical site infection, and hypocalcemia). To achieve a homogeneous patient population, only patients with total thyroidectomy for multinodular benign goiter were included.
Background: Compared with malpractice claims in thyroid surgery, expert medico-legal reviews of surgery performed for hyperparathyroidism (HPT) that aim to prove or rebut surgical malpractice are rare. The aim of this analysis was to describe typical risk patterns for possible treatment errors and to generate recommendations for avoiding these treatment errors.
Material And Methods: A total of 12 surgical expert medico-legal reviews, which were carried out by order of 9 arbitration boards and 3 courts between 1997 and 2020 were evaluated.
