Tetrahedrite (CuSbS) and famatinite (CuSbS) are good candidates for green energy applications because they possess promising thermoelectric and photovoltaic properties as well as contain earth-abundant and nontoxic constituents. Herein, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS), and electron paramagnetic resonance spectroscopy (EPR) methods examined inherent electronic properties and interatomic magnetic interactions of Cu-site doped tetrahedrite and famatinite nanomaterials. An energy-efficient modified polyol method was utilized for the synthesis of tetrahedrite and famatinite nanoparticles doped on the Cu-site with Zn, Fe, Ni, Mn, and Co.

Article Synopsis
  • Aryl diazonium electrografting allows researchers to attach functional molecules to surfaces, creating stable carbon-surface bonds, but it can form thick, disordered films that hinder electrochemical performance.
  • The study focused on how the thickness and composition of these films impact both n-type and p-type silicon electrodes, particularly in photoelectrochemical applications.
  • Results showed that thicker diazonium films reduced electrochemical reversibility, which improved when ferrocene was added, highlighting differences in performance between p-type and n-type electrodes.

Article Synopsis
  • Anaphylactic and anaphylactoid reactions are serious allergic responses that require immediate treatment, presenting symptoms like bronchospasm, urticaria, and potentially fatal cardiovascular issues.
  • The case involves a 52-year-old male with an acute left thalamic hemorrhage and dangerously high blood pressure, initially treated with hydralazine, which proved ineffective.
  • While increasing the dose of nicardipine for better blood pressure control, the patient experienced severe side effects including swelling, urticaria, tachycardia, wheezing, and low oxygen saturation, indicating a serious reaction to the medication.
