Institution of a formal multidisciplinary heart team for high-risk coronary revascularization.

Introduction: The heart team approach is now the standard of care for patients with complex coronary artery disease; however, the definition of a heart team is variable. We embarked on a project to create an extended, multidisciplinary heart team to evaluate patients we deemed high risk for coronary revascularization. In doing so, we created a new service, workflow, and paradigm.

Autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) is a rare and complex condition that can be difficult to identify due to its resemblance to malignancies. This case report presents a unique instance of AIP in a 9-year-old male patient who presented with painless jaundice and elevated liver function test results. His symptoms were persistent even after previous common bile duct stent placement, requiring additional investigation.

Background: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a curative treatment for many diverse blood and immune diseases. However, HSCT regimens currently commonly utilize genotoxic chemotherapy and/or total body irradiation (TBI) conditioning which causes significant morbidity and mortality through inducing broad tissue damage triggering infections, graft vs. host disease, infertility, and secondary cancers.

Risk factors associated with multidrug-resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae infections: a multicenter observational study in Lebanese hospitals.

Background: Klebsiella pneumoniae is a significant global public health burden, especially in low-income countries and regions with fragile healthcare infrastructures, due to its ability to cause severe infections, increase mortality rates, and its rising antimicrobial resistance. This study aimed to estimate the proportion of multidrug-resistant (MDR) K. pneumoniae infections and identify associated risk factors.
