Summary Of Background Data: Previous work has demonstrated the efficacy of lumbar pedicle screw hook rod (PSHR) techniques and the Buck screw in the stabilization of spondylolysis. The mechanical behavior of lower profile cervical implants used to create PSHR, hybrid cable plate constructs, and titanium miniplating has not previously been described.

Methods: Calf lumbar spines (L2-L6) were utilized for testing (n=27).

Bone surface strains were measured in cadaver femora during loading prior to and after resurfacing of the hip and total hip replacement using an uncemented, tapered femoral component. In vitro loading simulated the single-leg stance phase during walking. Strains were measured on the medial and the lateral sides of the proximal aspect and the mid-diaphysis of the femur.

Introduction: Traditional advanced imaging modalities such as CT and MRI are limited in their ability to perform accurate linear distance and angular measurements regardless of anatomical orientation. The construction of 3D models has been used to perform anthropometric analyses as well as in the reconstruction of rapid prototypes. We hypothesized that such measurements would be precise to within 2 mm or 2 degrees of measurements performed with a coordinate measurement machine (CMM).

Objective: To assess improvements in fixation stability when a hinged unilateral external fixator is used to supplement compromised internal fixation for distal humerus fractures.

Methods: Removing a 1-cm section of the distal humerus in cadaveric whole-arm specimens created a comminuted distal humerus fracture model (AO type 13-A3). Fixation was then performed using different constructs representing optimal, compromised, or supplemented internal fixation.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the relationship between cervical cytology, histologic type, and risk of endometrial cancer recurrence. We performed a retrospective study of patients undergoing surgery for endometrial carcinoma. Risk factors for recurrence including histology, tumor grade, nodal status, myometrial invasion, peritoneal washings, stage, and cervical cytology were assessed.
