Ecological variation and anthropogenic landscape modification have had key roles in the diversification and extinction of mammals in Madagascar. Lemurs represent a radiation with more than 100 species, constituting roughly one-fifth of the primate order. Almost all species of lemurs are threatened with extinction, but little is known about their genetic diversity and demographic history.

Unexpected Expression and Function of FcεRI in Immortalized Breast Cancer Cells: A Cautionary Null Study.

The high-affinity IgE receptor, FcεRI, is typically associated with type 2 effectors such as mast cells (MC). The relatively unique expression profile of FcεRI and accumulating evidence from pre-clinical and clinical settings, such as MC interactions with tumors, have led us to study MCs as a potential therapeutic target in breast cancer. Our work identified MCs interacting with tumor cells at primary sites using the 4T1 (BALB/c) adenocarcinoma model in vivo.

Optimization of stimulated rotational Raman scattering over vibrational scattering in a hydrogen-filled fiber.

We present the first, to the best of our knowledge, investigation of the gain competition between rotational and vibrational stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) in the transient regime for a hydrogen (H)-filled antiresonant fiber (ARF) with the aim of generating multispectral emission composed of only rotational SRS. We show numerically and experimentally that purely rotational emission requires optimization of ARF length and spectral transmission, pump power and polarization, and H pressure. In this work, the H-filled ARF is pumped by 40 kW, 7 ns pulses at λ = 1.
