Effectiveness of Community Intervention Program on Knowledge and Practice of HPV Prevention Among Married Females in Vietnam Rural Areas.

(HPV) is identified as the leading cause of cervical cancer which is the second most common cancer of females in the world. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of a community-based intervention on knowledge and practice of HPV prevention among married females aged 15 to 49 in rural areas, Vietnam. This study used a quasi-experimental design with serial cross-sectional surveys at one intervention commune (Chi Linh, Hai Duong) and one control commune at other province (Thanh Thuy, Phu Tho).

Geroprotection in cancer prevention.

Clinical records from individuals followed for 5 years, 2000 to 2005, were reviewed. They were distributed in 3 cohorts of ages ranging from 51 to 60, 61 to 70, and 71 to 80 years, respectively. Each cohort included 2 groups of patients with diabetes type 2, one group treated with Metformin 850 mg/day, and the other one without pharmacological treatment.

Mammalian Fat1 is a giant atypical cadherin/tumor suppressor involved in the regulation of cellular orientation, migration, and growth. Fat1 is implicated in the development of the brain, eye, and kidney. Altered expression or mutations of FAT1 are also associated with cancer and facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD).

TLR4 activates NF-κB in human ovarian granulosa tumor cells.

Previous studies have demonstrated expression of Toll-like receptors (TLRs) in the surface epithelium of normal ovaries (OSE) and in epithelial ovarian tumors. Most notably, OSE-derived cancers express TLR4, which activates the nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-κB) signaling cascade as a mediator of inflammatory response. Currently, there is considerable interest in elucidating the role of TLR-mediated signaling in cancers.
