Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to identify anesthetic agents that reduce negative outcomes during laryngeal mask airway (LMA) insertion in adult patients receiving general anesthesia.
  • A network meta-analysis of 53 randomized controlled trials involving 4695 patients found that the combination of propofol and dexmedetomidine was most effective in minimizing adverse events during the procedure.
  • Overall, all anesthetic combinations, except for those involving thiopental, were better than propofol alone in reducing adverse outcomes related to apnea, insertion failure, and inadequate anesthesia depth.

Cognitive behaviour therapy for psychosis (CBTp) should be offered to patients receiving psychiatric inpatient care, yet very little is known about patients' perspectives on this. The aim of this study was to examine patients' experiences of a CBTp-informed intervention delivered in inpatient settings. We recruited 10 participants from the intervention arm of a randomised controlled trial examining the feasibility and acceptability of a CBTp-informed intervention for psychiatric inpatient settings.

The incorporation of phytoactive compounds in the management of malarial vectors holds promise for the development of innovative and efficient alternatives. Nevertheless, the molecular and physiological responses that these bioactive substances induce remain underexplored. This present study investigated the toxicity of different concentrations of aqueous and methanol extracts of Ocimum tenuiflorum against larvae of Anopheles gambiae (sensu stricto) and unraveled the possible underlying molecular pathways responsible for the observed physiological effects.
