Background: Under the World Health Organization's (WHO) integrated community case management (iCCM) Rapid Access Expansion Program (RAcE), World Vision Niger and Canada supported the Niger Ministry of Public Health to implement iCCM in four health districts in Niger in 2013. Community health workers (CHWs), known as (RCom), were deployed in their communities to diagnose and treat children under five years of age presenting with diarrhea, malaria and pneumonia and refer children with severe illness to the higher-level facilities. Two of the districts in southwest Niger piloted RCom using smartphones equipped with an application to support quality case management and provide good timely clinical data.

To determine effectiveness of training, 266 attendees at two professional conferences were asked to identify and demonstrate their preferred lift technique with the demonstration being an ideal floor-to-waist height lift of a10-kg weighted crate. 'Bend your knees' was the most frequent preferred cue for each of the self-reported participant groups: untrained (n = 65), trained (n = 86), and trainers (n = 115) according to safe lifting techniques.

Objective: The purpose of this investigation was to determine: a) the potential benefit of introducing an ergonomic safety initiative, which slows the speed of lifting, and b) the need to use more complex biomechanical models in work assessments.
Participants: One experienced worker and nine university male students between the ages of 22 and 42 participated in this study; all reported no recent history of musculoskeletal injuries.

Sweat accumulation underneath surface EMG (sEMG) electrodes is a common problem in workplace studies which compromises electrode adherence to the skin as well as signal fidelity. In this study, the effect of sweat accumulation on signal amplitude and mean frequency (MF) was examined to determine if the sEMG signal becomes altered through the sweat layer and whether this effect can be avoided by interrupting the pool of sweat using a thin strip of medical adhesive between the electrode snaps. Nine males performed a maximum, isometric contraction of their right quadriceps as sEMG was collected.
