Article Synopsis
  • The study compares total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) and laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy (LSCH) during minimally invasive sacrocolpopexy for treating uterovaginal prolapse.
  • Results showed no significant difference in overall recurrence of prolapse between the two methods, but TLH had lower odds of recurrence in multivariable analysis.
  • TLH had a higher proportion of mesh exposures with lightweight mesh, but this finding wasn't significant after adjusting for other factors.

Importance: Limited evidence exists on the effect of combined native tissue vaginal prolapse repair with midurethral sling on urgency urinary incontinence (UUI) symptoms.

Objectives: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of combined native tissue vaginal prolapse repair with midurethral sling on UUI symptoms at 12 months postoperatively and identify risk factors for persistent UUI.

Study Design: This secondary analysis utilized data from a randomized trial comparing retropubic versus single-incision slings in women undergoing treatment of stress incontinence and vaginal prolapse with native tissue vaginal repair and midurethral sling.

Purpose: The United States criminal legal system has a long-standing and well-documented history of perpetuating racial disparities in health and well-being through inequitable policing, sentencing, and incarceration practices. In the last decade, the criminal legal system has re-considered their response to women arrested for solicitation via sex trafficking specialty courts.

Methods: The current study leverages publicly available data from one large Midwestern county to explore the presence of racial disparities within women's referral to, election to participate in, and success within one specialty court program for women in the sex trade.

PhoU proteins are negative regulators of the phosphate response, regulate virulence, and contribute to antibiotic resistance. has multiple genes encoding PhoU homologs that regulate persister formation and potentially virulence, but the molecular mechanisms of this regulation are not fully understood. We used a bacterial adenylate cyclase two-hybrid system to assess interactions between PhoU homologs and other proteins known to interact with PhoU from PhoU (also referred to as PhoU1) interacted with PhoU itself; PitR (also referred to as PhoU2) interacted with PitR itself.

Cognitive, metabolic and sleep benefits associated with enhancement of sleep slow waves using closed-loop auditory stimulation have been reported in adults but not in adolescents, especially in home settings. Seventeen volunteers (10F/7M; age range: 13-18 years old) participated in a 2-week, single-blind, crossover study. STIM (auditory stimulation ON) and SHAM (auditory stimulation at zero-volume) were each applied for a week (randomized order).
