Background: Cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection causes morbidity and mortality in solid-organ transplant recipients. Drug-resistant CMV is an emerging problem with poor survival outcomes and limited therapeutic options. In this study we comprehensively address the issue of drug resistance in CMV when compared with standard therapies, such as ganciclovir (GCV) and foscarnet.

Background: Arteriotomy closure device (ACD) use has increased following percutaneous transfemoral coronary procedures (PTCP). However, their safety in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) is not known. Therefore, we evaluated the complication rates of ACD among patients with CKD.

Efficacy and tolerability of olanzapine in elderly patients with psychotic disorders: a prospective study.

Olanzapine is a novel antipsychotic effective in reducing positive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia and with a safe side-effect profile. Premarketing trials, however, included only a few elderly patients. Further data are needed regarding the effects of olanzapine in the elderly and those with comorbid medical illness.
