Background: Cystic fibrosis (CF) is caused by variants in a gene that encodes a protein essential for water and ion transport in the epithelial cells of exocrine organs. Given the possible relationship of this protein and conjunctival and corneal epithelium, the aim of this study was to evaluate ophthalmologic alterations in people with CF.
Methods: Forty-five people with CF underwent pulmonary evaluation including inflammatory score (IS).
This study investigated the factors influencing gestation length in a herd of Wagyu cattle in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Fifty-five multiparous purebred Wagyu cows underwent a Fixed-Time Artificial Insemination (FTAI) protocol using semen from a bull randomly selected from five bulls representing three distinct genetic lines. Following birth, we recorded the calves' gender, weight, and gestation length.

Emerging research suggests a link between gut microbiota and neuropsychiatric conditions, including PMS. This study aimed to investigate the fecal microbiota and immune profiles of children with PMS compared to healthy controls.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA central theme in cancer research is to increase our understanding of the cancer tissue microenvironment, which is comprised of a complex and spatially heterogeneous ecosystem of malignant and non-malignant cells, both of which actively contribute to an intervening extracellular matrix. Laser microdissection (LMD) enables histology selective harvest of cellular subpopulations from the tissue microenvironment for their independent molecular investigation, such as by high-throughput DNA and RNA sequencing. Although enabling, LMD often requires a labor-intensive investment to harvest enough cells to achieve the necessary DNA and/or RNA input requirements for conventional next-generation sequencing workflows.
