Article Synopsis
  • This study explored how traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) affects readmission rates and lab results in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) who have a hypercoagulable state.
  • Using a retrospective analysis of patients from a specific hospital, the researchers balanced groups through propensity score matching and assessed the impact of TCM treatment lasting at least one month.
  • Results indicated that RA patients in the hypercoagulable group had higher readmission rates and all-cause mortality, while those treated with TCM showed significantly better outcomes, particularly in terms of readmission and surgical treatment needs.

Though much progress has been achieved in the discovery of new molecular ferroelectrics in recent years, practical applications and related physics are still rarely explored due to the difficulty in high-quality film production and patterning issues. Single-crystalline films and patterns are in high demand for high device performance. Through a template-assisted space-confined strategy, herein, ordered single-crystalline nanowire patterns and optoelectronic devices of a semiconducting molecular ferroelectric (SMF), hexane-1,6-diammonium pentaiodobismuth (HDA-BiI), were successfully demonstrated.

Introduction: Materials exhibiting a Poisson's ratio of zero have attracted considerable interest due to their unique properties and potential applications in various fields, including aerospace, athletic footwear, and sporting equipment. However, the high costs associated with their structural fabrication and the dependence on synthetic chemical materials for most zero Poisson's ratio materials complicate the preparation processes of current elastic materials, resulting in negative environmental impacts.

Objectives: This study presents a sustainable treatment strategy that utilizes the inherent cellular structure of wood to achieve a zero Poisson's ratio, thereby enhancing its elasticity.

A universal method is demonstrated for the fabrication of large-area highly ordered microporous arrayed metal oxides based on a high-quality self-assembly opal template combined with a sucrose-assisted sol-gel technique. Sucrose as a chelating agent optimizes precursor infiltration and regulates both oxide formation and the melting process of polystyrene templates, thus preventing crack formation during infiltration and calcination. As a result, over 20 metal element-based 3DOM oxides with arbitrary compositions are successfully prepared.

Background: People often look online for information about health concerns, but the vast amount of available and unregulated content can cause misinformation and potential harm. Health recommender systems (HRSs) can address this issue by recommending personalised health information. Previous research has evaluated individual systems, but there is a lack of reviews synthesising their evaluation findings.
