The Receptor for Advanced Glycation End Products (RAGE), classically considered a mediator of acute and chronic inflammatory responses, has recently been implicated by genetic knockout studies as a regulator of skeletal muscle physiology during development and following acute injury. Yet, the role of its soluble isoform, soluble RAGE (sRAGE), in muscle regeneration remains relatively unexplored. As non-human primates (NHP) are more similar to humans than rodents, the current study investigated whether it was possible to reproduce in a NHP, the previously obtained beneficial results by using a plasma-synthesized polypyrrole/iodine (PPy/I) biopolymer, which reduce glial scar formation and inflammatory response and promotes nerve tissue preservation, regenerative processes and functional recovery in rats. In NHPs (Rhesus monkey) with SCI by complete transection (SCT) and with plasma-synthesized PPy/I application (experimental) or without (control), the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines in blood, preservation of nervous tissue through magnetic resonance imaging and histological and morphometric techniques, regeneration through immunohistochemistry study and functional recovery through clinical examination, were evaluated.

Although consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages and juices (SSBJs) in infancy is linked to increased obesity, few early-life interventions have targeted SSBJ reduction.
Objectives: To determine the efficacy of a culturally tailored home intervention for reducing SSBJ intake and obesity risk in Latino mothers and infants.
Water pollution, resulting from industrial effluents, agricultural runoff, and pharmaceutical residues, poses serious threats to ecosystems and human health, highlighting the need for innovative approaches to effective remediation, particularly for non-biodegradable emerging pollutants. This research work explores the influence of shape-controlled nanocrystalline titanium dioxide (TiO NC), synthesized by a simple hydrothermal method, on the photodegradation efficiency of three different classes of emerging environmental pollutants: phenol, pesticides (methomyl), and drugs (sodium diclofenac). Experiments were conducted to assess the influence of the water matrix on treatment efficiency by using ultrapure water and stormwater (basic) collected from an urban drainage system as matrices.
