Purpose: In cardiovascular surgeries, iron deficiency anemia and transfusion of blood products are associated with mortality and morbidity, prolonged hospital stay and poor patient outcomes. Patient blood management (PBM) is a patient-centered approach based on a 'three pillar' model that promotes optimum use of blood and blood products to improve outcomes. This study assessed the potential budget impact of implementing PBM in patients undergoing elective cardiovascular surgery in a private hospital in Turkey.

Method: Children aged 2-6 years undergoing elective surgery, including orthopedic soft tissue surgeries, ear nose throat surgical procedures and general surgical interventions, all performed under general anesthesia, were randomized to receive either active warming (using the forced-air warming gowns, Bair Hugger, in the pre- and postoperative period, and a carbon fiber blanket in intraoperative period; Group A), or conventional warming using green blankets pre-and post-operatively and a carbon fiber blanket intraoperatively (Group B). Children undergoing emergency surgery, surgeries involving major body cavities (abdominal, thoracic, cranial surgery), or those with endocrinological pathologies, or baseline fever, were excluded.
Objectives: The objective of this retrospective study was to investigate the incidence of repeated cone-beam computed tomography scans due to motion artefacts in a Turkish subpopulation.
Material And Methods: A total of 6364 patients' cone-beam computed tomography data were analysed retrospectively to identify repeated scans due to motion artefacts. Patients were divided into eight age groups: 1) < 10-year-olds, 2) 10 to 19-year-olds, 3) 20 to 29-year-olds, 4) 30 to 39-year-olds, 5) 40 to 49-year-olds, 6) 50 to 59-year-olds, 7) 60 to 69-year-olds, and 8) > 70 year-olds.

Improving the interfacial bonding strength of CFRP materials is crucial for enabling the development of novel composite beam structures with higher specific bending strength demanded by the composite industry. In this research study, for reinforced bulk plastic composites, the aim is to enhance the interfacial bonding strength of CFRP bar elements in bulk plastics by on the formation of knots. In this context, firstly, the knotted CFRP bars with varying cross-sectional areas were manufactured under laboratory conditions for the experimental investigation on the effect of knots on bonding strength.
