Much historic work has focused on establishing geographical and ecological rules that broadly explain patterns in size variation. We examined geographic variation in Spotted Hyena skull size using geometric morphometrics and spatial statistics. We quantified size variation and sexual size dimorphism of the skull, and evaluated the influence of temperature, precipitation, land cover type, and population density on skull size.

Though studies in animals and humans link the gut microbiota to brain development and control of behavior, little research has examined this connection in healthy infants. This prospective study could determine associations between infant gut microbiota at 3 months, and infant temperament at 9 months, in a prospective pregnancy cohort (Michigan Archive for Research on Child Health; = 159). Microbiota profiling with 16S rRNA gene sequencing was conducted on fecal samples obtained at 3 months of age.

A 26-year-old patient in France who worked as a butcher sought care initially for erythema multiforme. Clinical examination revealed a nodule with a crusty center, which upon investigation appeared to be an orf nodule. Diagnosis was confirmed by PCR.

Objective: We describe a rare case of pseudohyponatremia in the setting of hypercholesterolemia caused by cholestasis due to metastatic liver disease and provide a review of the published cases in the literature.

Case Report: We report a case of pseudohyponatremia in a 60-year-old man with rectal cancer with extensive metastasis to the liver. While assessing the patient for hyponatremia, extremely elevated serum cholesterol with normal serum osmolality was detected leading to the diagnosis of pseudohyponatremia.
