Renal-cell carcinoma accounts for 2 percent of all cancers and a third of the patients who undergo resection of localized disease will have a recurrence. We report a case of a 58-year-old man with a right atrial mass protruding into right ventricle arising from the inferior vena cava, found by echocardiography, which was subsequently proved to be a recurrence of renal-cell carcinoma 25 years after radical left nephrectomy. This pattern of late recurrence is rare and suggests that this tumor's aggressive nature contributed to the degree of heart invasion and the patient's rapid death.

We studied the effect of acute administration of the calcium-channel blocker verapamil (VER) in 27 patients with tumoral hyperprolactinemia ([THPRL] prolactinomas and pseudoprolactinomas). We also studied the effect of VER in seven patients with idiopathic hyperprolactinemia (IHPRL) and a small group of patients with normal prolactin (PRL) levels and minimal incidental anomalies shown by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). The study was performed on 2 separate days: on the first day, all subjects received VER, and on the second they received placebo.

The authors present the results of a research on 3,888 patients (1,768 males and 2,120 females) admitted to the 1st Internal Medicine Department of Leghorn Hospital during two years (from July 1993 to June 1995). The research is intended to value the hyperlipidaemia's incidence in hospitalized patients, and the association between hyperlipidaemias and some diseases generally considered as consequences or favouring conditions of atherosclerosis. The results of the study show the not secondary role of hyperlipidaemias in hospitalization phenomen and their frequent association with important cardiovascular and metabolic diseases.

The authors describe a case of superior vena cava thrombosis with laterocervical lymphoadenopathy (probably of metastatic origin). Vascular tumors are a large neoplasm family with a wide clinical and histological spectrum. They may localize on the skin, soft tissues, liver, spleen and parotid gland.

The authors describe a case of lymphoblastic lymphoma of the renal lodge complicated by hemorrhagic pericarditis, cardiac tamponade and quickly evolved in an unfavourable way. Lymphoblastic lymphoma is classified into lymphocytic lymphomas (or non-Hodgkin) with a higher grade of malignancy. These lymphomas have, in 40% of cases, an initially extra-lymph node localization: among these, the renal or perirenal localization is not very frequent.
