A new genus of Leptomysinae Hansen, 1910, constituting a new type species for science, is described: Pseudobranchiomysis arenae. This new mysid is characterized by a combination of the following characters: antennal scale lanceolate and setose all around with a pointed apex, telson with apical cleft armed with many fine spines on the convex margins, and well-developed pseudobranchial lobes in male pleopods. Individuals of this species were found in the surf zone of two sandy beaches in Argentina and constitute a stable population.

Conclusions: The use of custom-built magnetoelastic sensors designed for insertion in the larynx to measure the force of transverse deformation of the thyroarytenoid and cricothyroid muscles was examined.

Objectives: The availability of sensors that transduce deformation force into an electrical current (measurable in millivolts) suggested that such sensors could be used to study muscle function in the canine larynx. This study aimed to obtain information about the force exercised by larynx muscles on the sensor in an experiment in vivo.

The hydrogen bonding interactions of methyl beta-carboline-3-carboxylate (BCCM) in both ground and first singlet excited electronic states have been studied in solvents with different properties in the presence of acetic acid, a hydrogen-bonding donor/acceptor. The methyl ester substituent reduces the pyridinic nitrogen basicity of this beta-carboline derivative. This fact has let us study the hydrogen bonding interactions in a higher range of acetic acid concentrations than for other beta-carboline derivatives previously studied.
