Sclerodermatous graft-versus-host disease (GvHD) is one of the many clinicopathological variants of chronic GvHD. One of the rarest forms of this variant is GvHD-associated angiomatosis (GvHD-AA). We describe the case of a 62-year-old male with sclerodermatous GvHD who presented, in consecutive years, two different lesions that showed characteristics of GvHD-AA.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study compares Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS) outcomes for basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), as prior research hadn't differentiated between the two types of tumors in this context.
  • - Over 2,600 patients were followed, revealing that SCC patients were generally older and had larger tumors, with a higher incidence of incomplete surgeries and postoperative complications compared to BCC patients.
  • - The findings highlight notable differences in MMS treatment, indicating that an understanding of these disparities can improve surgical planning and patient preparation for better outcomes.

Background: The elderly population is increasing and more patients in this group undergo Mohs micrographic surgery (MMS). The few publications investigating MMS in elderly people conclude that it is a safe procedure; however, these are single-centre studies without a comparison group.

Objective: To compare the characteristics of patients, tumours, MMS and 1-year follow-up in patients younger than 80 years, with patients older than 80 years at the time of surgery.
