Insufficient physical activity is associated with increased relative risk of cardiometabolic disease and is an independent risk factor for mortality. Experimentally reducing physical activity rapidly induces insulin resistance, impairs glucose handling, and drives metabolic inflexibility. These adaptations manifest during the early stages of physical inactivity, even when energy balance is maintained, suggesting that inactivity-mediated metabolic reprogramming is an early event that precedes changes in body composition.

This study utilized cork powder as a green alternative for extractor phase using the parallel-disposable pipette extraction (Pa-DPX) method for the determination of pesticides such as atrazine, carbofuran, diuron, and simazine from aqueous environmental samples. This work describes the development of a new automated parallel dispersive tip microextraction method (Au-Pa-DPX) for the determination of eleven polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in four samples of Brazilian sugarcane spirit beverages, with separation and detection done by the HPLC-DAD. The results obtained with the Au-Pa-DPX approach were also compared with those obtained via the conventional parallel manual DPX method with the same samples and optimized extraction process. Desorption solvent and cycles of desorption, cleaning and extraction were optimized using response surface methodology and univariate approaches.

We demonstrate efficient subthermal cooling of the modified cyclotron mode of a single trapped antiproton and reach particle temperatures T_{+}=E_{+}/k_{B} below 200 mK in preparation times shorter than 500 s. This corresponds to the fastest resistive single-particle cyclotron cooling to subthermal temperatures ever demonstrated.
