Introduction: Bronchiectasis exacerbation (BE) is associated with unfavorable sequelae in other organs such as the cardiovascular system; data regarding its impact on adverse term renal outcomes, however, is lacking.

Methods: A territory-wide retrospective cohort study was conducted in Hong Kong between 1/1/1993 and 31/12/2017. All patients with bronchiectasis followed in the public healthcare system in 2017 were classified as "Exacerbators" or "Non-Exacerbators," and their adverse renal outcomes (renal progression [decrease in eGFR by 30 mL/min lasted for more than 12 months during follow up], acute kidney injury [AKI], and annual rate of eGFR decline) in the ensuing 7 years were compared.

Epidemiological studies combining taxonomic and clinical data have been limited globally, particularly Guiyang, the most under-developed economic provincial capital city in southwestern China. A retrospective analysis was performed of dermatophyte epidemiology involving all culture-positive cases received between May 2017 and May 2023 at the Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University. Phylogenetic analysis was conducted on 391 dermatophyte isolates collected from patients using the rDNA internal transcribed spacer sequences.

It can be administered by single inhaler (SITT) or multiple inhaler (MITT). There was lack of evidence of the benefits of SITT over MITT in Chinese population, especially on switching from existing MITT to SITT.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examined how mislabeled drug allergies, particularly to NSAIDs, affect stroke patients compared to the general population in Hong Kong from 2008 to 2014.
  • Patients with stroke had a higher prevalence of allergy labels for cardiovascular and diagnostic agents, impacting their treatment options and medication prescriptions.
  • Notably, those labeled with NSAID allergies were less likely to receive important medications like aspirin, faced higher mortality rates, and most could be delabeled successfully through testing.
