Bone Marrow Harvest: A White Paper of Best Practices by the NMDP Marrow Alliance.

Data on recent bone marrow harvest (BMH) collections from the NMDP has shown that bone marrow (BM) quality has decreased based on total nucleated cell count in the product. To ensure that quality BM products are available to all recipients, the NMDP Marrow Alliance was formed in April 2021 to increase the capability of BM collection centers to safely deliver high-quality products consistently and to identify and disseminate guidelines for performing BMH. This white paper describes the best practices for BMH as defined by the NMDP Marrow Alliance.

Fibreoptic-guided tracheal intubation through i-gel and LMA Protector supraglottic airway devices - a randomised comparison.

Fibreoptic-guided tracheal intubation using a supraglottic airway device as a conduit is a technique that can be used in anticipated and unanticipated difficult airway management. Although the i-gel supraglottic airway device has been examined for this purpose, the LMA Protector , a recently introduced second-generation supraglottic airway device, has not been evaluated for this use in clinical trials. This prospective, randomised clinical trial compared fibreoptic-guided tracheal intubation via i-gel and LMA Protector supraglottic airway devices in two UK hospitals.

Developing an outcome-based multidisciplinary care planning tool: process and outcomes.

Multidisciplinary care planning is required for patients in acute care settings. A task force was charged by the Vice President of Patient Care to develop and implement a multidisciplinary care planning tool. This article outlines the process used and includes examples of the tool and outcomes to date.

Topic: Three behavioral theories have been used to develop major nursing theories: interactive, systems, and developmental.

Purpose: To provide a symbolic image as a framework for nurses to visualize the multitude of nursing theories starting with the first nurse theorist, Florence Nightingale.
