This study examined the prevalence and risk factors of repeat breeder syndrome (RB) in 2370 dairy cows in northern Spain. Data collected included the prevalence of postpartum pathologies, metabolic markers, and productive and reproductive parameters. The overall RB prevalence was 21.

This review aims to emphasize the important role that goats and dairy goats play for many small-scale rural families worldwide, as well as to introduce a proposal for categorizing the main dairy goat production systems (DGPSs), using a multifactorial approach but emphasizing rainfall and nutritional supplementation level, as the focal categorization factors. The main DGPSs were divided into two metasystems based on available resources, each consisting of three production subsystems. In the first metasystem, the three subsystems have limited water, biotic, and economic resources, whose main economic rationality is based on reducing risk rather than maximizing outputs.

Due to the productive and economic consequences of Repeat Breeder (RB) syndrome, the objectives of this study were to determine the prevalence and risk factors for subclinical endometritis (SE) and oviductal occlusion (OO) in RB cows, and to make a therapeutic approach for these pathologies. In 99 RB cows, endometrial cytologies were performed to assess the presence of SE (>5 % polymorphonuclear neutrophils), and the oviductal patency was checked using the phenolsulfonphthalein test. Body condition score was evaluated, and data from each animal were obtained from on-farm software (parity, calving date, artificial insemination (AI) date, number of AI, and occurrence of postpartum diseases).

The neuroendocrine regulation of the seasonal reproductive axis requires the integration of internal and external signals to ensure synchronized physiological and behavioral responses. Seasonal reproductive changes contribute to intermittent production, which poses challenges for optimizing goat product yields. Consequently, a significant objective in seasonal reproduction research is to attain continuous reproduction and enhance profitability in goat farming.

Dystocia is one of the main causes of calf death around calving. In addition, peripartum deaths may occur due to other factors, such as weather or predators, especially in the case of grazing animals. Precision Livestock Farming (PLF) tools aimed at the automatic detection of calving may be useful for farmers, allowing cow assistance in case of dystocia or checking the condition of the cow-calf pair after calving.
