Article Synopsis
  • Sonography is an effective diagnostic imaging tool for patients with HIV/AIDS and tuberculosis (TB) co-infection, allowing for the identification of various complications like enlarged lymph nodes and pleural effusion.
  • An extensive literature review identified themes around the use of ultrasound in diagnosing extrapulmonary TB (EPTB) in resource-constrained settings, highlighting its rapid, cost-effective, and portable nature.
  • Training sonographers in areas heavily affected by HIV/AIDS and TB to utilize focused assessments with sonography for HIV (FASH) can improve early diagnosis and treatment, contributing to global health goals of reducing HIV and TB epidemics.

Introduction: Many maternal and fetal morbidity and mortality from complications of pregnancy have been attributed to placenta abnormality. Placenta assessment in developing countries is mainly through ultrasonography which is subjective and prone to error. Objective assessment of placental abnormalities through texture analysis has been frequently done using magnetic resonance images with little done on ultrasound generated images, thus, the need for this study.

This study has developed a relationship that categorized radiation protection and allows for a proper, clear, and concise review of the different classifications in terms of principles of protection, dose criteria, categories, fundamental tools, exposure situations, applications and control measures. With the groundwork laid, advances of the linear no-threshold (LNT) model which has attracted attention in the field of radiobiology and epidemiology were examined in detail. Various plausible dose-response relationship scenarios were x-rayed under low-dose extrapolation.

Background: The 6-minute walk test (6MWT), a simple, reliable, and valid test that uses the distance walked in 6 minute walk distance (6MWD) to quantify functional capacity, is widely used in the management of chronic disorders. However, the absence of reference standards from sub-Saharan African, including Nigerian, school-aged children limits its utility in this age group.

Objectives: To develop normative values and equations for the 6MWD of school-aged Nigerian children.
