When to pair: Effects of different pairing ages on dairy calf health, behavior and performance.

Pair housing presents an alternative to individual or larger group housing systems, though the effects of different pairing ages on calf welfare are not well understood. In this study, we examined the impact of pairing age on the performance, health, and behavior of dairy calves. A total of 140 Holstein female calves (n = 70 pairs) were used, paired at 3 ages: Early (6-7 d; 48 calves), Intermediate (29-30 d; 48 calves), and Late pairing (49-50 d; 44 calves).

Laboratory readiness and genomic surveillance of Covid-19 in the capital of Brazil.

This study aims to analyze the diagnostic readiness to Covid-19 and the genomic surveillance of SARS-CoV-2 in Brasília, the capital of Brazil. This is a retrospective, cross-sectional study, with data from: cases/deaths-Ministry of Health; RT-PCR analyses Brasília Central Public Health Laboratory (LACEN); genomics-Global Initiative on Sharing All Influenza Data (GISAID). It was found that in March 2021, with the Gamma variant was predominant, RT-PCR diagnostic tests administered by LACEN reached their peak, followed by a reduction, possibly due to the start of vaccination.

Background: Cardiovascular risk factors (CVRF) are among the main modifiable risk factors for dementia in Latin America (LA). Therefore, improving cardiovascular health (CVH) is one of the main objectives of the LatAm-FINGERS trial, the largest non-pharmacological (lifestyle improvement) randomized trial in LA. But, to fully comprehend CVH it is necessary to explore its relation with the social determinants of health (SDH), that are closely associated with lifestyle.

Developing Topics.

Background: Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) represent a major advancement in oncology to deliver selectively cytotoxic drug to tumor cells while reducing their exposure to normal tissues. Each ADC consists of a monoclonal antibody (mAb) selective to a tumor specific/overexpressed surface antigen conjugated to the cytotoxic agent. In this study, we are investigating the potential of an ADC approach in neurodegenerative diseases (NDD) to increase the exposure of therapeutic mAbs in the brain using small molecules known to be brain penetrant.

Incidence of Gingival Recessions in Adolescent Orthodontic Patients Treated With Fixed Appliances and Lingual Retainer.

Aim: To evaluate risk indicators for gingival recessions (GRs) in the lower anterior teeth of orthodontic patients post treatment and during a retention period of at least 5 years, compared to non-treated controls.

Material And Methods: Eighty-nine orthodontically treated patients who were recession-free before treatment were recruited. Demographic, cephalometric and occlusal records were retrieved before (T1) and after treatment (T2), and periodontal outcomes were clinically evaluated at least 5 years post retention (T3).
