A clinical trial comparing Lanconone® with ibuprofen for rapid relief in acute joint pain.

Background: To study the effect of Lanconone® (1000 mg) on acute pain on exertion as compared to the standard of care, Ibuprofen (400 mg).

Method: The study recruited 72 subjects diagnosed with mild to moderate knee joint pain on exertion. Subjects with Pain Visual Analogue Scale of more than 40 mm were included.

Disposition of a novel recombinant antithrombotic agent, RG 12986, in cynomolgus monkeys.

RG 12986, a novel antagonist of platelet aggregation, is a recombinant peptide based on the sequence in von Willebrand factor, which contains the GP1b binding site. Disposition of the peptide in cynomolgus monkeys was determined using nonlabeled and 35S-labeled product. After iv administration, the peptide underwent a triphasic decay in the plasma.

A proposed mechanism of action of a growth hormone-specific monoclonal antibody in the enhancement of hormonal activity.

The potentiation of the biological activity of recombinant porcine growth hormone (pGH) by immunologic manipulation was investigated. An anti-pGH monoclonal antibody, designated PS-7.6, was generated and its effect on pGH was evaluated in hypophysectomized (hypox) rats.

Characterization of ligand binding to mitochondrial benzodiazepine receptors.

We have evaluated the affinity and density of binding sites for [3H]Ro5-4864 and [3H]PK11195 in intact and fragmented rat kidney mitochondria. These sites are known as peripheral-type or mitochondrial benzodiazepine receptors (MBR) and the preceding paper provided evidence that they function in vitro as modulators of mitochondrial respiratory control (1). In this report, MBR density, localization, and ligand specificity were investigated.
