The gut microbiota of FUNAAB Alpha chickens plays a crucial role in determining their overall health and performance. Understanding the various types and diversity of microbiota in the gut of different genotypes of chickens is crucial for enhancing their well-being, productivity, and disease resistance. This study employed 16S rRNA and metagenomics analysis to examine the gut bacteria of three genotypes of FUNAAB Alpha broiler chickens, namely Naked neck, Frizzle, and Normal feather.

Also, the goal of the study was to detect the presence of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) at HSP90AB1 locus and consequently recommend them as bio-markers for thermo-tolerance potentials in Nigerian cattle breeds when exposed to assaults of thermal conditions/heat shock of tropical environment. Based on the previously published potentials of this candidate gene to lower assaults of thermal conditions/heat shock such as heat stress, the detected SNPs of HSP90AB1 within the population of the Nigerian cattle in this study will be recommended for population-based screening with a view to genetically improving those zebu cattle breeds that are more vulnerable to heat shock and assaults of thermal conditions.

Background And Aim: Global warming has grave consequences on livestock production systems and profound negative effects on animal production. This study aimed to carry out an thermal stress stimulation (TSS) of bovine peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs) using different thermal assault conditions (TACs), including normal to extreme temperatures and varying durations of thermal exposure (DTE) to understand how PBMCs of Indian Zebu-Jersey crossbreds respond to various levels and durations of heat shock.
Materials And Methods: Ten milliliters of blood were collected from 70 Indian Zebu-Jersey crossbreds under aseptic conditions and were sampled for isolating PBMCs.
Early age thermal conditioning has been found to improve thermotolerance in birds. This study assessed the effect of perinatal thermal conditioning on serum parameters, corticosterone, free fatty acid, globulin and expression of corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH) gene in five chicken strains; using fifty chicks per strain of Cobb 500 (C500), Ross 308 (R308), Shika Brown (SB), Normal Feathered Nigeria Indigenous (NF) and FUNAAB Alpha (FA). Twenty-five chicks per strain were conditioned at 40 ± 1 °C for 3 h on day 6.
