Background: Minimal access liver surgery (MALS) is considered superior to open liver resection (OLR) in reducing the perioperative risk in patients affected by hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). No national-level comparisons exist based on procedure complexity. This study aims to compare postoperative complications, postoperative ascites (POA), and major complications (MC) between MALS and OLR.

The Role of 11C-Methionine PET Imaging for the Evaluation of Lymphomas: A Systematic Review.

: In the last years, different evidence has underlined a possible role for [11C]-methionine ([11C]MET) positron emission tomography (PET) imaging for the evaluation of lymphomas. The aim of this paper was, therefore, to review the available scientific literature focusing on this topic. : A wide literature search of the PubMed/MEDLINE, Scopus and Cochrane Library databases was conducted in order to find relevant published articles investigating the role of [11C]MET in the assessment of lymphomas.

Enantio-Recognition and Charge Transfer Complex Formation Involving Tetrathiafulvalene-Appended Chiral 1,2-Cyclohexane-Diamine: An Integrated Experimental and Theoretical Study.

In this work, we exploit the electronic features of tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) as a backbone in synthesizing chiral derivatives. The aim is to make use of TTF's well-known and unique redox and semiconducting properties in the fields of enantio-selective recognition and chiral charge transfer (CT) complex preparation, with the ultimate objective of obtaining devices with various potential applications, ranging from plasmonics to quantum computing. In particular, both cyclohexane-bis (TTF-amide)-based enantiomers 1-(S,S) and 1-(R,R), stable under an oxidation regime, have been selected, and under these conditions, the electrochemical enantiospecific response of the four possible systems, coming from the combination with L- and D-tartaric acid, respectively, was tested.

Effectiveness of caudal segmental mandibulectomy in a cat: clinical and tomographic outcomes.

Case Summary: A 1-year-old spayed female domestic British Shorthair cat was presented for facial trauma; there were multiple mandibular fractures involving the right temporomandibular joint (TMJ) that were managed conservatively. After 2 months, the owner reported a gradual onset of the cat's inability to open its mouth and subsequent inappetence. The maximum mouth opening (MMO) measured 7 mm.
