The effect of electro-anatomical mapping on the success rate and fluoroscopy time in supra-ventricular tachycardia ablation in children: single centre retrospective study.

Aims: To evaluate the effect of electro-anatomical mapping on success rate and fluoroscopy time in ablation of supraventricular tachycardia substrates in a large group of children.

Methods: Patients referred from multiple centres in the Netherlands and who received a first ablation for supraventricular tachycardia substrates in the Leiden University Medical Center between 2014 and 2020 were included in this retrospective cohort study. They were divided in procedures in patients with fluoroscopy and procedures in patients using electro-anatomical mapping.

Effect of Age and Sex on the QTc Interval in Children and Adolescents With Type 1 and 2 Long-QT Syndrome.

Background: In congenital long-QT syndrome, age, sex, and genotype have been associated with cardiac events, but their effect on the trend in QTc interval has never been established. We, therefore, aimed to assess the effect of age and sex on the QTc interval in children and adolescents with type 1 (LQT1) and type 2 (LQT2) long-QT syndrome.

Methods And Results: QTc intervals of 12-lead resting electrocardiograms were determined, and trends over time were analyzed using a linear mixed-effects model.

Giant rhabdomyoma of the right ventricle.

A giant intrathoracic mass causing foetal dysrhythmias, polyhydramnios and foetal hydrops necessitated a caesarean section in a male infant of 35 weeks gestation. Despite the benign histology of cardiac rhabdomyomas and the observation of spontaneous regression, there may be significant associated morbidity and mortality, especially in neonates. There is a high incidence of associated tuberous sclerosis.

Subependymal caudothalamic groove hyperechogenicity and neonatal chronic lung disease.

Chronic lung disease is associated with several poorly defined risk factors for impaired cerebral development. Late neonatal onset of subependymal hyperechogenic areas in the caudothalamic groove has been reported in association with dexamethasone treatment and postnatal cytomegalovirus infection. We reviewed charts of 18 patients who developed subependymal hyperechogenicity beyond the first week of life, as well as charts of 79 patients belonging to a prospective surfactant study group.
