Background: We have noted that some adolescents and young adults with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) report difficulty with arms-overhead activities, suggestive of brachial plexus dysfunction or thoracic outlet syndrome (TOS). In the TOS literature, diagnostic maneuvers focus on the provocation of upper limb symptoms (arm fatigue and heaviness, paresthesias, neck and upper back pain), but not on elicitation of systemic symptoms.
Objectives: To estimate the proportion of patients with fatiguing illness who experience local and systemic symptoms during a common maneuver used in evaluating TOS-the elevated arm stress test (EAST).

This review discusses the varying definitions for post-acute sequelae of SARS CoV-2 infection (PASC) in adolescents and young adults (AYAs), symptom profiles of AYAs with PASC, and assessment and management strategies when AYAs present with symptoms concerning for PASC. Additionally, it reviews the impact that PASC can have on AYAs and includes strategies for providers to support AYAs with PASC. Finally, it concludes with a discussion around equity in the care of AYAs with possible PASC.

Additional putative neuroprotective drug candidates include sildenafil citrate, a phosphodiesterase-type 5 inhibitor. The main objective of this preclinical study is to assess its ability to reduce HI-induced neuroinflammation, in particular through its potential effect on microglial activation.
