The mechanical competence and suturing ability of collagen-based membranes are paramount in guided bone regeneration (GBR) therapy, to ensure damage-free implantation, fixation and space maintenance. However, contact with the biological medium can induce swelling of collagen molecules, yielding risks of membrane sinking into the bone defect, early loss of barrier function, and irreversibly compromised clinical outcomes. To address these challenges, this study investigates the effect of the crosslinked network architecture on both mechanical and suture-holding properties of a new atelocollagen (AC) membrane.

We piloted an approach to identifying the health and social care needs of people on probation using a survey consisting of validated screening tools and key additional questions. We share findings from our analysis of the sample data, showing that there is a high complexity of needs in this population, with 65.4% of participants reporting at least one unmet need.

All mental health Trusts in England were surveyed, using freedom of Information Requests, as part of an enquiry into sexual safety incidents. A response rate of 72 % was obtained. Results revealed that sexual safety incidents and mixed-sex ward breaches are both increasing.
