Background: This study aimed to (1) summarise research on the impact of peer support interventions aimed at improving psychosocial functioning among cancer survivors, and (2) identify key components for developing a support intervention for patients with a rare cancer living in rural, regional or remote areas.

Methods: A comprehensive search of EMBASE, MEDLINE, PsycINFO, CINAHL, and the Cochrane Library identified papers that examined peer support interventions: (i) for rare cancer patients, or (ii) for those living in rural, regional or remote locations, or (iii) that provided support online or via telehealth. After screening, data on study characteristics, intervention components and impact on psychosocial functioning were extracted.

Invasive candidiasis (IC) is a term that refers to a group of infectious syndromes caused by a variety of Candida species, 6 of which cause the vast majority of cases globally. Candidemia is probably the most commonly recognized syndrome associated with IC; however, Candida species can cause invasive infection of any organ, especially visceral organs, vasculature, bones and joints, eyes, and central nervous system. The optimal use of these newer diagnostics coupled with a thoughtful clinical assessment of at-risk patients and the judicious use of effective antifungal therapy is a key to achieving good antifungal stewardship and improved patient outcomes.

Glomerular endothelial cell (GEnC) injury is a common feature across the wide spectrum of glomerular diseases. We recently reported that the endothelial-specific knockout of increases the susceptibility to GEnC injury and subsequent development of subacute thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA). Environmental drivers such as salinity can impact the timing, and duration of developmental events in aquatic early life stages of crustaceans, including terrestrial crabs of the family Gecarcinidae. Low salinity delays larval development in land crabs, but nothing is known about its influence on the crucial late-stage encapsulated embryonic, or immediate post-hatch development. Therefore, we exposed fertilised late-stage embryos of the Christmas Island red crab (Gecarcoidea natalis) to differing salinities (100, 75, 50, or 25 % sea water) for 24 h during their spawning period and measured some key developmental and physiological traits.

Background: Evidence indicates that neurodivergent (ND) populations may be more at risk of experiencing adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), compared to neurotypical (NT) populations. However, this evidence has typically not examined a comprehensive set of ACEs and has only included ND individuals on the basis that they have a diagnosis. Very little research has examined the impacts of ACEs on negative adulthood outcomes for ND populations.
