Background: Dexpanthenol-containing ointments/fluids are recommended to restore impaired nasal mucosa. To date, there are no data about the influence of dexpanthenol or formulations including dexpanthenol on ciliary beat frequency (CBF) of nasal epithelial cells.
Methods: We tested the ciliary beat frequency of human nasal epithelial cells in RPMI 1640 cell solution using in vitro high-frequency video microscopy every 60 s over a period of 15 min (min).
Objective: To test the feasibility of a pilot study for a future definitive trial investigating the effect of different meal service programs for old people living at home.
Design: An 8-week randomized controlled trial was performed.
Setting: Three municipalities in the Nordic country, Denmark.
The worldwide shortage of medical-grade ventilators is a well-known issue, that has become one of the central topics during the COVID-19 pandemic. Given that these machines are expensive and have long lead times, one approach is to vacate them for patients in critical conditions while patients with mild to moderate symptoms are treated with stripped-down ventilators. We propose a mass-producible solution that can create such ventilators with minimum effort.

The derivation is based on the scaled boundary finite element method that has been developed previously for waveguides with stress-free surfaces. The effect of the surrounding medium is accounted for by introducing a dashpot boundary condition at the interface between the waveguide and the adjoining medium.
