Introduction: Almost half of patients discharged from hospital are readmitted or return to the emergency department (ED) within 90 days. Non-adherence to medication changes made during hospitalisation and the use of potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) both contribute to postdischarge adverse events. We developed Smart About Meds (SAM), a patient-centred mobile application that targets medication non-adherence and PIMs use.

Background: We developed and tested a dichoptic treatment designed for younger children that can be viewed freely and involves a dichoptic manipulation of a popular animation series that enables contrast-rebalancing without disrupting fusion. Our aim was to assess whether this novel amblyopia treatment is superior to patching in children aged 3-5 years.

Methods: A total of 34 children with amblyopia were randomly assigned to contrast-rebalanced dichoptic cartoons (4 hours/week) or patching (14 hours/week) for 2 weeks.

The effectiveness of intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) for patients with unexplained recurrent implantation failure (uRIF) remains debated. We retrospectively analysed outcomes of uRIF patients treated with IVIg compared to a separate control uRIF cohort within our center (01/2014-12/2021). Primary outcomes included live birth, miscarriage, or transfer failure.

Case: We present a case report of a 64-year-old man who developed a rare Bipolaris species fungal periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) after revision arthroplasty for complications associated with a metal-on-metal total hip arthroplasty. The patient underwent a 2-stage debridement with antibiotic bead placement and implant retention, along with chronic antifungal suppression. At the 2-year follow-up, the patient remained asymptomatic.

Problem: Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) affects up to 4% of couples attempting to conceive. RPL is unexplained in over 50% of cases and no effective treatments exist. Due to the immune system's pivotal role during implantation and pregnancy, immune-mediated RPL may be suspected and immunomodulatory treatments like intravenous immunoglobulin (IVIg) have been administered but remain controversial.
