Mental health nursing consultations in Brazilian primary care: analysis of proposed competencies for advanced practice nurses.

Background: Primary Health Care (PHC) is a key strategy to identify, manage, and coordinate mental health cases. Considering that nurses are essential to integrating mental health care into PHC, initiatives to broaden the discussion and incorporate the role of Advanced Practice Nurses in this setting can help reduce disparities in mental health care. Thus, this study aimed to analyze mental health nursing consultations in PHC and investigate whether nurses have the care management skills proposed for Advanced Practice Nurses.

The influence of colony habitat and egg components on lead and cadmium concentrations of great egrets and roseate spoonbills in southern Brazil.

Birds are important sentinels of environmental contamination due to their well-known response to fluctuations in the concentration of trace elements and foraging preferences. Lead (Pb) and cadmium (Cd) are environmental contaminants that can cause lethal or sublethal effects, such as neurological, physiological, and reproductive dysfunction in a range of bird species. Here, we examined Pb and Cd concentrations in eggshells and egg contents of great egrets (Ardea alba) and roseate spoonbills (Platalea ajaja), waterbirds with contrasting foraging strategies, from two habitats, estuarine and limnetic, in southern Brazil.

Exploring the impact of the stargazin V143L mutation on the dynamics of the AMPA receptor: stargazin complex.

Stargazin, a transmembrane AMPAR regulatory protein (TARP), plays a crucial role in facilitating the transport of AMPA receptors to the cell surface, stabilising their localisation at synapses and influencing their gating properties. The primary objective of this study was to investigate the effect of the V143L mutation in stargazin, previously linked to intellectual disability, on the interaction between stargazin and AMPA receptors. To achieve this, we conducted a thorough examination of eight distinct molecular dynamics simulations of AMPA receptor-stargazin complexes, each associated with different conductance levels.

GPCR oligomerization across classes: A2AR-mediated regulation of mGlu5R activation.

The adenosine A receptor (AR), a class A GPCR, is a known player in neurological diseases, including Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease, and is also implicated in SARS-CoV-2 infection. Recent studies have revealed its oligomerization with metabotropic glutamate receptor type 5 (mGluR), a class C G protein coupled receptor (GPCR) that exists in the homodimeric form. Simultaneous activation of both receptors synergistically enhances mGluR-mediated effects in the hippocampus.

Transverse Myelitis in a Healthy Adult Female Patient: A Rare Viral Etiology.

Transverse myelitis (TM) is an uncommon but extensively documented neurological disorder marked by acute spinal cord inflammation, resulting in a spectrum of impairments including motor, sensory, and autonomic disturbances. We outline a rare case of viral-induced TM linked to COVID-19 and Coxsackie B viral infections. A 25-year-old healthy female patient presented with acute bilateral upper and lower extremity weakness, paresthesia, and urinary retention.
