The nature of western lowland gorilla social relationships within and between groups is largely understudied, partly due to the challenges of monitoring associations between individuals who live in neighboring groups. In this study, we examined the social relationships of four western lowland gorilla groups in the Ndoki landscape of northern Republic of Congo. To do so, we compiled all-occurrence social interaction and silverback nearest neighbor social networks from data collected during daily group follows conducted over several years.

Problematising menstrual tracking apps: presenting a novel critical scoping review methodology for mapping and interpreting research literature.

Objectives: To showcase a novel, theoretically informed methodology for conducting scoping reviews by operationalising critical theory. And to advance the field of women's digital health by applying this critical scoping review methodology (CSR) to research on menstrual tracking apps (MTAs).

Methods And Measures: 116 articles published in English, between November 2015 and November 2023, focusing on MTAs, and/or user's experiences of MTAs, were thematically analysed through the Foucauldian concept of problematisation and analytics from critical psychology.

How did the depression and anxiety levels of older New Zealanders change during the COVID-19 pandemic?

There has been widespread concern about the mental health impact of the global COVID-19 outbreak. Fears have been raised that depression and anxiety among older people may have increased in the pandemic, and that adverse health behaviours, such as increased alcohol use and decreased physical activity, may have contributed to the mental health decline. This study aimed to examine changes in depression, anxiety, alcohol use and physical activity scores of people aged 55 and older in New Zealand over the initial months of the pandemic.

Ugandan Physician Attitudes towards a Potential, Local Trauma Fellowship Program.

Background: In low-income countries, clinicians trained through a context-specific trauma surgery fellowship program (TFP) can help reduce injury-related mortality to levels closer to those observed in higher-resource settings. Successful implementation, however, hinges on buy-in from local clinicians. We therefore assessed clinician support for a potential TFP in Uganda, considering perceived need, curricular recommendations, barriers, and motivating factors.

Delays in Care for Children With Low Anorectal Malformations in Southwestern Uganda.

Introduction: Disparities in anorectal malformation (ARM) outcomes between high- and low-income countries may be due to delayed diagnosis in the latter setting. The Three Delays model, comprising delays in seeking, accessing, and receiving care, provides a framework for exploring these challenges. We sought to examine the frequency and nature of the preoperative delays in children presenting for surgical correction of low ARMs.
