Aim: To assess the diagnostic potential of a noncoronary-dedicated pre-TAVR CT angiography (CTA) conducted as a prospective ECG-gated scan without premedication and standard cardiac reconstructions in evaluating bystander coronary artery disease (CAD) against invasive coronary angiography (ICA) as the gold standard.

Materials And Methods: This retrospective study included 232 patients who underwent both CTA and ICA as part of their pre-TAVR evaluation. Exclusion criteria included prior stent, pacemaker, coronary artery bypass, or valve surgery.

Apolipoprotein E4 (APOE4) is the strongest genetic risk factor for sporadic Alzheimer's disease (AD). Individuals with one copy of APOE4 exhibit greater amyloid-beta (Aβ) deposition compared to noncarriers, an effect that is even more pronounced in APOE4 homozygotes. Interestingly, APOE4 carriers not only show more AD pathology but also experience more rapid cognitive decline, particularly in episodic memory.

Introduction: The aviation occupational environment may expose a developing fetus to intermittent hypoxia, high gravitational force, toxic materials, loud noise, high frequency vibrations, and galactic cosmic radiation. These exposures in animal models are associated with adverse neonatal outcomes. We sought to investigate whether a maternal military aviation career was associated with adverse neonatal health outcomes.

Brain signaling of calcineurin (CN) and nuclear factor of activated T-cells (NFAT) transcription factor increases in Alzheimer disease (AD) and is associated with synaptic loss, neurodegeneration, neuroinflammation, amyloid-β (Aβ) production, and cognitive decline. CN/NFAT inhibitors ameliorate these neuropathologies in mouse models of AD. Further, chronic use of tacrolimus in transplant patients reduces risk of AD.
