Osteopenia and osteoporosis are common long-term complications of the cytotoxic conditioning regimen for hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). We examined mesenchymal stem and progenitor cells (MSPCs), which include skeletal progenitors, from mice undergoing HSCT. Such MSPCs showed reduced fibroblastic colony-forming units frequency, increased DNA damage, and enhanced occurrence of cellular senescence, whereas there was a reduced bone volume in animals that underwent HSCT.

The simultaneous presence of different electrophores provides an interesting playground for responsive materials. Herein, we present the incorporation of a twice-reversibly oxidizable tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) unit into a binucleating ligand, bridging two metal centers in a fully conjugated plane. A two-step synthesis scheme gave the D symmetric Schiff base-like ligand HL in moderate yields from which the corresponding copper(II) [Cu2L], nickel(II) [Ni2L], [Ni2L(py)4] and iron(II) complexes [Fe2L(py)4], [Fe2L(dmap)4] and [Fe2L(bpee)2]·1 Tol could be obtained.

Here, we provide evidence that the freshwater parasitic copepod, Salmincola californiensis, acts as a vector for Aeromonas salmonicida. While investigating the effects of S. californiensis on Chinoook salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha), we tangentially observed that fish infected with the copepod developed furunculosis, caused by A.

Prespawn mortality (PSM) presents a major problem for the recovery of spring Chinook Salmon (Oncorhynchus tshawytscha) populations. In the Willamette River, Oregon, PSM exceeds 90% in some years but factors explaining it are not well understood. We examined intestinal tissue samples using histological slides from over 783 spring Chinook Salmon collected between 2009 and 2021, which included tissues from PSM fish, artificially spawned captive broodstock (BS) and normal river run fish, comprised of trapped (Live) and naturally post-spawned river (RPS) fish collected from the river.
