Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of high-dose intravenous fosfomycin for the treatment of urinary tract infections (UTI) caused by KPC carbapenemase-producing Klebsiella pneumoniae (KPC-Kp). A secondary objective was to evaluate the impact of the results of fosfomycin susceptibility testing on prognosis.
Methods: This is an observational and retrospective study.

The impact of COPD screening on US primary care clinician behavior and patient outcomes is unclear. Assess the impact of receiving CAPTURE (COPD Assessment in Primary Care to Identify Undiagnosed Respiratory Disease and Exacerbation Risk) screening scores on clinical and patient outcomes. Cluster randomized trial included 49 usual care (COPD education only) and 51 intervention (COPD and CAPTURE education plus screening scores) primary care practices.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA challenge in viral vaccine development is to produce vaccines that generate both neutralizing antibodies to prevent infection and cytotoxic CD8 T-cells that target conserved viral proteins and can eliminate infected cells to control virus spread. mRNA technology offers an opportunity to design vaccines based on conserved CD8-targeting epitopes, but achieving robust antigen-specific CD8 T-cells remains a challenge. Here, we tested the viral-derived oligonucleotide DDO268 as an adjuvant in the context of a model influenza A virus (IAV) nucleoprotein (NP) mRNA vaccine in C57BL/6 mice.

This approach addresses the limitations of what we call the "isolationist approach to AI bias," a trend in AI literature where biases are seen as separate occurrences linked to specific stages in an AI pipeline. Dealing with these multiple biases can trigger a sense of excessive overload in managing each potential bias individually or promote the adoption of an uncritical approach to understanding the influence of biases in developers' decision-making.

Twenty dogs with pre- and postcontrast CT exams and cytological/histological diagnosis of ovarian neoplasia were included. Five dogs presented with bilateral tumors, for a total of 25 neoplasms: 15 carcinomas (4 bilateral), 4 granulosa cell tumors, 2 poorly differentiated malignant neoplasia (bilateral), 2 luteomas, 1 teratoma, 1 dysgerminoma.
