Across multiple species, chronic vestibular stimulation activates hypothalamic regions involved in energy homeostasis and reduces body fat. This first-in-human randomised controlled trial evaluated the efficacy and safety of electrical vestibular nerve stimulation (VeNS) as a means of reducing excess body weight and fat. Methods And Analysis: We used data on women diagnosed with invasive breast cancer between 1995 and 2019 from the National Cancer Registration Dataset (NCRD) in England. The data were linked to the Hospital Episode Statistics-Admitted Patient Care dataset to identify BSO delivery.
Background: Emerging literature notes the importance of neighborhood-level factors for cancer control behaviors beyond that of individual factors. Markers of neighborhood-level disadvantage have been linked to greater likelihood of nonsalutary cancer control behaviors. There has been less examination of many neighborhood factors simultaneously, which more accurately reflects individuals' daily experiences.
