ABC score is a better predictor for 30-day mortality in upper gastrointestinal bleeding: A prospective single-center study.

Background: Acute upper gastrointestinal bleeding (UGIB) still has a mortality rate of about 10%. Several pre-endoscopy scoring systems have been developed to predict the outcome, but none accurately predict mortality. The present study was aimed at comparing the new ABC score (age, blood tests and comorbidities) with other pre-existing scoring systems to predict mortality.

Background:  The prevalence of smokeless tobacco, areca nut, and e-cigarette use among university students has raised concerns regarding their potential impact on oral health. Assessing students' knowledge, attitudes, and practices toward these substances is necessary. Understanding these factors can inform targeted interventions and policies promoting oral health among this population.

The influence of ghrelin agonist ipamorelin acetate on the hypothalamic-pituitary-testicular axis in a cichlid fish, Oreochromis mossambicus.

Ghrelin, a peptide found in the brain and gut, is predicted to play a significant role in the control of various physiological systems in fish. The objective of this study was to examine the impact of ipamorelin acetate (IPA), a ghrelin agonist, on the reproductive axis of the tilapia Oreochromis mossambicus. The administration of either 5 or 30 µg of IPA for 21 days led to a significant and dose-dependent rise in food intake concomitant with a significant increase in the numbers of primary spermatocytes, secondary spermatocytes, and early spermatids compared to the control group.

Endoscopic Ultrasound Guided Radiofrequency Ablation for Caudate Lobe Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A New Paradigm in Endohepatology.

Endoscopic ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation (EUS-RFA) is a promising technique for treating small left hepatic lesions, particularly where ablation via percutaneous route is deemed to be technically difficult. Herein, we report a case of a 64-year-old cirrhotic patient with caudate lobe hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) who underwent EUS-RFA, resulting in complete ablation of the tumor and also review the related literature.
