Background: Telemedical approaches targeting cardiac outpatients try to include electrocardiogram (ECG) analysis. Increasing numbers of monitored patients require automated preanalysis of the ECG to prioritize the evaluation for the clinical professional to enable an efficient intervention.

Methods: ECGs were recorded from 60 patients, both with a standard 12-lead ECG and with a new handheld ECG device having dry electrodes for direct skin contact.

The delayed ischemic neurologic deficit (DIND) is a common and potentially devastating complication in patients who have sustained subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH). Recent evidence suggests that various constituents of the inflammatory response may be critical in the pathogenesis of this ischemic complication. The aim of this study was to evaluate the possible relationship between the C-reactive protein (CRP)/white blood cell (WBC) count and DIND.

A 72-year-old patient was referred to the neuroradiological department for diagnostic angiography. She was suffering from vertigo and double vision. Magnetic resonance imaging performed elsewhere had demonstrated a giant aneurysm of the basilar artery tip 2 cm in diameter.

Paravertebral glomus tumors.

We report on a 50-year-old man who suffered from chronic lumbago. CT and MRI revealed a paravertebral tumor mass growing through the neural foramen of lumbar vertebrae 1/2. Signal features on MRI and contrast medium enhancement characteristics were not diagnostically specific.

[Is the renal excretion of orally applied diatrizoate (Gastrografin) a reliable marker of gastrointestinal perforation or dehiscence of a gastrointestinal anastomosis?].

Purpose: Renal excretion of orally or rectally applied Gastrografin is reported to be a reliable indicator of a perforation or a postoperative anastomotic dehiscence of the GI-tract. The study was conducted to determine whether increased attenuation of the urine measured by CT after oral or rectal application of Gastrografin can give reliable evidence of any leakage from the gastrointestinal tract.

Materials And Methods: Urine samples of 33 patients, who underwent a Gastrografin-enhanced fluoroscopic examination of the esophagus or the GI-tract for different clinical reasons, were examined by CT.
