Objectives: Crohn's perianal fistula represents a challenging condition to treat. Sphincters-preserving surgical techniques are increasingly being adopted as repeated surgical procedures may lead to various degrees of incontinence. This prospective study aims to assess the long-term efficacy of collagen paste application in patients with simple and complex Crohn's perianal fistulas.

  • The exoscope, a more ergonomic alternative to traditional microscopes, is being explored in general surgery, specifically for transanal procedures like ileal-pouch anal anastomosis.
  • Surgeons performed a transanal procedure using the ORBEYE™ exoscope system, which provided a high-resolution, 3D view on a large screen, enhancing their ability to operate while keeping a comfortable position.
  • The results indicate that the exoscope offered excellent visualization and could improve surgical training by allowing trainees to see techniques clearly, suggesting its potential as a valuable tool in colorectal surgery.

Article Synopsis
  • * Researchers trained a group of ANNs on various temperature levels (303, 313, 323, and 333 K) using experimental data to improve prediction accuracy and prevent overfitting.
  • * The study highlights the ANNs' effectiveness in predicting properties without further testing and shows their application in multi-pass turning operations in MATLAB, achieving high accuracy and visualization of results with a minimal error margin of 2%.

Immersive intracorporeal vision is a key feature of robotic surgery, limited today to only one trainee per operation when the dual console is available. We developed a tool that provides a virtually unlimited number of surgeons with the operator's view, with the possibility to also watch the surgeon's hand movements and the operating table. In this study, we aim to assess trainees' reaction to this innovative training method.
