The pandemic infection of SARS-CoV-2 presents analogies with the behavior of chemical reactors. Susceptible population (A), active infected population (B), recovered cases (C) and deaths (D) can be assumed to be molecules of chemical compounds and their dynamics seem well aligned with those of composition and conversions in chemical syntheses. Thanks to these analogies, it is possible to generate pandemic predictive models based on chemical and physical considerations and regress their kinetic parameters, either globally or locally, to predict the peak time, entity and end of the infection with certain reliability.

Background: The endocannabinoid system reportedly plays a role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular diseases. This system is expressed also in adipose tissue, which could thus be involved in cardiac disorders through modulation of metabolically triggered inflammation. The current study aims to determine the relevance of the endocannabinoid system in epicardial adipose tissue in heart disease.

Primary lymphomatous effusions are defined as lymphomas presenting in the serous body cavities in the absence of clinically identifiable tumor masses. Recently, a peculiar type of primary lymphomatous effusion associated with tumor clone infection by human herpesvirus type 8 (HHV-8) and preferentially arising in HIV-positive patients has been described and termed as primary effusion lymphoma (PEL). This report describes a case of PEL which has developed in a HIV-negative, 92-year-old man with longstanding Mediterranean Kaposi's sarcoma, a disease also associated with HHV-8 infection.

Although point mutations of the 5' noncoding regions of the BCL-6 proto-oncogene are frequently detected in B-diffuse large cell lymphoma (B-DLCL), a thorough analysis of the clinical correlation of these mutations has not been performed to date. In this study, BCL-6 mutations were examined by DNA direct sequencing in 103 patients with B-DLCL. BCL-6 mutations were found in 53/103 patients, including 38/76 treated with standard chemotherapy and 15/27 treated with autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) up front.

Common variable immunodeficiency (CVI) patients are at high relative risk of developing non-Hodgkin lymphomas (NHL), mainly represented by B-lineage diffuse large cell lymphomas. The molecular pathogenesis and histogenesis of CVI-related NHL are poorly understood. We have thus attempted to provide a detailed molecular characterization of their histogenesis and pathogenesis.
