Background: The length of hospital stays for severe COVID-19 cases significantly impacts the overall burden on the health system. Current COVID-19 vaccines have proven effective at reducing severe cases. However, the influence of vaccination status on the progression of COVID-19 after hospitalization is not well understood.

Selective area molecular beam epitaxy of InSb on InP(111)B: from thin films to quantum nanostructures.

InSb is a material of choice for infrared as well as spintronic devices but its integration on large lattice mismatched semi-insulating III-V substrates has so far altered its exceptional properties. Here, we investigate the direct growth of InSb on InP(111)B substrates with molecular beam epitaxial growth. Despite the lack of a thick metamorphic buffer layer for accommodation, we show that quasi-continuous thin films can be achieved using a very high Sb/In flux ratio.

Production of free fatty acids by enzymatic hydrolysis of residual frying oil using non-commercial lipases from Aspergillus niger.

Lipases are enzymes that have an important role in the industry for their wide use, giving rise to a great interest in industrial bioprocesses due to their versatility. One of the applications is the enzymatic hydrolysis of waste oils. This work consists of evaluating the production of lipases using several concentrations of residual frying oil (RFO) and different pHs, through ANOVA analysis.

Social representations of oncologic surgery for patients with cancer.

Objectives: to analyze the social representations of patients with cancer regarding oncologic surgery.

Methods: a qualitative study based on Social Representation Theory was conducted with 126 participants between October 2021 and May 2022 in a public hospital in Rio de Janeiro. A characterization questionnaire, free evocations of the inducing term "surgery", and semi-structured interviews with 60 participants were applied.
