Discontinuing antidepressant medication (ADM) can be challenging for patients and clinicians. In the current study we investigated if Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) added to supported protocolized discontinuation (SPD) is more effective than SPD alone to help patients discontinue ADM. This study describes a prospective, cluster-randomized controlled trial (completed).

Lived experiences of musicians with pain: an interpretative phenomenological analysis of performance-related pain of professional violinists.

The purpose of this interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) is to explore how five professional South African violinists make sense of their lived experiences of performance-related pain. The research problem this study investigates is multifaceted. It includes examining the career implications for violinists who play despite experiencing pain and are afraid to speak up because of the stigma associated with being injured.

Facilitators and barriers of discontinuation were explored qualitatively.

Design: Mixed-methods study combining quantitative and qualitative data, drawn from a randomised controlled trial.

Exploring the Lived Experiences of Instrumental Ensemble Performers With Dalcroze Eurhythmics: An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis.

The purpose of this interpretative phenomenological analysis (IPA) is to explore the way that instrumental ensemble performers understand their experiences of Dalcroze Eurhythmics while preparing the Tango and Charleston of the jazz ballet by Bohuslav Martinů. The participants of this study were the members of an ensemble, which included both authors. Data included semi-structured interviews and reflections by the first author during and after the five Dalcroze sessions.

Enhancing shared decision making about discontinuation of antidepressant medication: a concept-mapping study in primary and secondary mental health care.

Background: The apparent rise of antidepressant use seems to be explained to a large extent by an increase in long-term use. Both professionals and patients appear reluctant to discontinue antidepressant medication (ADM). It is not known what factors determine this reluctance.
