Introduction: For the optimal management of children with cystic fibrosis, there are currently no efficient tools for the precise adjustment of pancreatic enzyme replacement therapy, either for advice on appropriate dietary intake or for achieving an optimal nutrition status. Therefore, we aim to develop a mobile application that ensures a successful nutritional therapy in children with cystic fibrosis.

Methods And Analysis: A multidisciplinary team of 12 partners coordinate their efforts in 9 work packages that cover the entire so-called 'from laboratory to market' approach by means of an original and innovative co-design process.

The envelope glycoprotein from vesicular stomatitis virus (VSV-G) has been used extensively to pseudotype lentiviral vectors, but has several drawbacks including cytotoxicity, potential for priming of immune responses against transgene products through efficient transduction of antigen-presenting cells (APCs) and sensitivity to inactivation by human complement. As an alternative to VSV-G, we extensively characterized lentiviral vectors pseudotyped with the gp64 envelope glycoprotein from baculovirus both in vitro and in vivo. We demonstrated for the first time that gp64-pseudotyped vectors could be delivered efficiently in vivo in mice via portal vein injection.

Background: Some of the genetic variants of hemoglobin (Hb) and their chemically modified species are known to affect the measurement of Hb A(1c). The purpose of this study was to characterize Hb species in the blood sample of a 74-year-old German male with an exceptionally low Hb A(1c) value.

Methods: Hemolysates from the propositus and a healthy individual were analyzed by electrophoresis, cation-exchange HPLC, boronate affinity chromatography, and electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry (ESMS).

Rad23 is a nucleotide-excision repair protein with a previously unknown biochemical function. We determined that yeast and human Rad23 inhibited multi-ubiquitin (Ub) chain formation and the degradation of proteolytic substrates. Significantly, Rad23 could be co-precipitated with a substrate that contained a short multi-Ub chain.
