[Ultrasonic neonatal screening of congenital hip dislocation].

Routine echographical neonatal diagnosis of congenital dislocation of the hip is today a good method of treatment of this pathology: early diagnosis, infarct, allows treatment in early years with complete healing as shown by long term follow-up. 596 newborns have met with echographic hip screening: the method has shown good result and the study has led us to realize an anamnestical schema pointed on the familiarity which is one of the pathognomic matters of this pathology.

[Long-term results (May 1989-May 1990) concerning the mandatory use of restraining systems --safety belt and car chair-- for children in Italy].

Results of one year follow-up of children restraint system mandatory use in Italy are exposed: transgression are not pursued and a frequent traumatical pathology for the childhood takes place.

[Open evaluation of a new anti-inflammatory analgesic drug: etodolac. Report of a clinical trial].

In a controlled clinical study the efficacy and tolerance of etodolac was evaluated in patients with orthopedic or traumatologic pathology. Twenty-four patients received one 200 mg tablet of the drug in the morning and two in the evening; patients were followed for a minimum of 60 days, and laboratory tests were done at the start, mid-term and after the end of treatment. For clinical evaluation, the following parameters were assessed: --pain during movement; --morning stiffness; --pain/sleep ratio; --global evaluation.

The Author emphasizes the significant number of children who sustain fatal accidents during their transport on motor vehicles and relates the Act recently promulgated by the Italian Parliament on the mandatory use of particular restraining devices as well as safety harness for children.

[Caudal radiography versus computerized axial tomography in the diagnosis of lumbosacral radiculitis].

The advantages and disadvantages of caudoradiography and computed tomography in the diagnosis of compressive sciatic radiculitis are compared. With this in mind, the data on 103 patients admitted to Giaveno Hospital in 1986-1987 are analysed. In this series 99 were subjected to CAT scans, 21 to caudoradiculography (7 to both examinations) and 41 to surgery.
