Energy poverty affects 550,000 homes in the Netherlands yet policy interventions to alleviate this issue are rare. Therefore, we test two energy coaching interventions in Amsterdam: a static information group (n = 67) which received energy efficient products and one energy-use report, and a smart information group (n = 50), which also had a display providing real-time feedback on energy-use. Results across both groups, show a 75% success rate for alleviating energy poverty.

Unlabelled: The beet necrotic yellow vein virus (BNYVV) is a multipartite virus with the highest number (up to five) of genomic segments among RNA viruses. Classified as a soil-borne virus, it is persistently transmitted by the protozoan . Previous studies have demonstrated that the relative frequency of the BNYVV genomic RNAs was modified depending on the host plant as well as the infected organ, resulting in distinct stoichiometric ratios between the viral RNAs.

Evaluating sidewalk accessibility is conventionally a manual and time-consuming task that requires specialized personnel. While recent developments in Visual AI have paved the way for automating data analysis, the lack of sidewalk accessibility datasets remains a significant challenge. This study presents the design and validation of Sidewalk AI Scanner, a web app that enables quick, crowdsourced and low-cost sidewalk mapping.

Article Synopsis
  • - The fragmented design of current intelligent transportation systems leads to isolated operations, worsening traffic and service levels, prompting a shift towards an autonomous transportation system (ATS) that promotes collaboration and sustainability through better interoperability.
  • - The evolution to ATS aims to balance resource use and efficiency with minimal human involvement, yet faces challenges like disparate data, inadequate models, and conflicting stakeholder interests.
  • - TPE is proposed as a solution, integrating blockchain, federated learning, and large-scale models to create a trustworthy framework that ensures privacy and equality while facilitating personalized adaptation for diverse user groups in the transport sector.

Breast cancer is the most frequent type of tumor in women and is characterized by variable outcomes due to its heterogeneity and the presence of many cancer cell-autonomous and -non-autonomous factors. A major determinant of breast cancer aggressiveness is represented by immune infiltration, which can support tumor development. In our work, we studied the role of mast cells in breast cancer and identified a novel activity in promoting the tumor-initiating properties of cancer cells.
