Adapting the rhizome concept to an extended definition of viral quasispecies and the implications for molecular evolution.

The rhizome concept proposed by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari offers a novel perspective on the organization and interdependence of complex constellations of heterogeneous entities, their mapping and their ruptures. The emphasis of the present study is placed on the dynamics of contacts and communication among such entities that arise from experimentation, without any favored hierarchy or origin. When applied to biological evolution, the rhizome concept integrates all types of heterogeneity resulting from "symbiotic" relationships among living beings (or their genomic material), horizontal genetic transfer, recombination and mutation, and breaks away from the approach that gives rise to the phylogenetic tree of life.

Pushing the Integrated Employment Agenda: Employment Systems Partners and the High-Performing States Model.

This article summarizes data collected from key informants in Iowa, Maryland, and Oklahoma regarding efforts to support integrated employment for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). We highlight features that contribute to the effectiveness of collaborative structures that have resulted in each state's success in achieving integrated employment outcomes for individuals with IDD across three state systems: IDD, vocational rehabilitation, and education. We present these features using the seven elements of the High-Performing States Employment Model.

Buildout and integration of an automated high-throughput CLIA laboratory for SARS-CoV-2 testing on a large urban campus.

In 2019, the first cases of SARS-CoV-2 were detected in Wuhan, China, and by early 2020 the first cases were identified in the United States. SARS-CoV-2 infections increased in the US causing many states to implement stay-at-home orders and additional safety precautions to mitigate potential outbreaks. As policies changed throughout the pandemic and restrictions lifted, there was an increase in demand for COVID-19 testing which was costly, difficult to obtain, or had long turn-around times.

Occupational therapy in pulmonary rehabilitation programs: A scoping review.

Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) is a multidisciplinary intervention forming the cornerstone of chronic respiratory disease management, improving individuals' exercise capacities and abilities to complete activities of daily living (ADLs). Although the occupational therapy (OT) scope of practice focuses on similar outcomes as PR, the tasks/roles and benefit of including OT in PR has not been reviewed. This scoping review synthesized the i) tasks/roles, ii) recommendations of guidelines, iii) prevalence and iv) effects of OT as part of PR programs.

May Measurement Month 2019: an analysis of blood pressure screening results from Republic of the Congo.

The aim of this study was to determine the proportion with hypertension among an opportunistic sample of the population of the Republic of the Congo. Screening was conducted during the period from 15 May to 15 June 2019. Participants included, consenting persons 18 years of age and over, from five cities: Brazzaville, Pointe-Noire, Oyo, Owando, and Ouesso.
